One of the South's best kept secrets, John has exhibited at museums and galleries all over the world. He is a living record of time soon forgotten depicting many rituals and social customs of Tentieth Century rural Black America. The art ties in with our music festival of Bluegrass, Folk, and Americana music. Much of the old time music originated from the scenes depicted by the artist. The pieces of art, much like the music, are as important to history as they are to the world of art. John Daso is as interesting a person as his art. Please take the time to visit with him at his exhibit downstairs in the Monticello Opera House.
